Animal Anarchy

Animal Anarchy is a beat em up game where you play as a human who wants to eliminate the capybara race. Why? Because the character is annoyed by capybara’s overwhelming cute, believing their cuteness distracts people from accomplishing their goals. Determined to eliminate the capybara, the player proceeds to go into the forest, where the capybara live, to kill them all with their barehand.

During the creation of Animal Anarchy, I learn a lot about the collision and animation as these 2 are quite crucial for beat up game. For the animation of player, I found a good sprite sheet on itch.io, and imported ones I thought I would need, however I noticed I spend too much time trying to code all the different animation to the player. In the end, I decided to use the punching animation for all the attack and move on to other animation. 



On the other hand, the enemies’ animations didn’t have much, but there was no attacking, so I decided to use various slash effects to indicate that the enemies are attacking. For the collision side, I notice how detail the collision needs to be in sync with the animation, as the player experience is heavily depended on the hitbox to ensure the attacks feel fair. In the end, I learn that every action and details can heavy effect the player experience of beat ‘em up genre.
